Reconstruction of the microlensing light curves of the Einstein Cross, QSO2237+0305: possible evidence of an accretion disk with a central hole Microlensing HAE analysis for the OGLE & GLITP monitoring data

چکیده
Recent OGLE (Optical Gravitational Lensing Experiment) and GLITP (Gravitational Lens International Time Project) monitoring data for QSO 2237+0305 (Huchra et al. 1985) have been analyzed through a newly optimized N-body microlensing analysis method, the Local HAE Caustic Modeling (LOHCAM). This method simultaneously solves for the size of the source and N-body HAE (High Amplification Events) caustic shapes in the source plane and determines those sizes only as a function of the projected transverse velocity of the source. By applying this method to the light curves of the A & C lensed components in the Einstein Cross, these data are accurately reconstructed for the first time. From these modeling studies, we report several interesting results: the minimum number of microlenses required for possible caustic models, the possible evidence of an accretion disk with a central hole at the heart of the quasar, the size of the UV-continuum source, the masses of the microlenses being directly responsible for the observed HAEs, the estimated mass range of a super massive black hole (SMBH) in QSO 2237+0305 and finally some clues for the direction of the source motion in the sky.

Detection of chromatic microlensing in Q 2237 + 0305 A
We present narrow band images of the gravitational lens system Q 2237+0305 made with the Nordic Optical Telescope in eight different filters covering the wavelength interval 3510-8130 Å. Using PSF photometry fitting we have derived the difference in magnitude vs. wavelength between the 4 images of Q 2237+0305. At λ = 4110 Å, the wavelength range covered by the Strömgren-v filter coincides with ...
متن کاملEvidence for a source size of less than 2000 AU in Quasar 2237+0305
Recently, OGLE team have reported clear quasar microlensing signal in Q2237+0305. We have analyzed the microlens event of “image C” by using their finely and densely sampled lightcurves. From lightcurve fitting, we can unambiguously set the source size of < ∼ 0.98 Einstein Ring radius as a conservative limit. This limit corresponds to 2000(AU), if we adopt Mlens ∼ 0.1M obtained by a recent stat...
متن کاملA small source in Q 2237 + 0305 ?
Microlensing in Q2237+0305 between 1985 and 1995 (eg. Irwin et al. 1989; Corrigan et al 1991; Østensen et al. 1996) has been interpreted in two different ways. Firstly, the observed variations can be explained through microlensing by stellar mass objects of a continuum source with dimensions significantly smaller than the microlens Einstein radius (ηo), but consistent with that expected for the...
متن کاملQuantitative Interpretation of Quasar Microlensing Light Curves
We develop a general method for analyzing the light curves of microlensed quasars and apply it to the OGLE light curves of the four-image lens Q2237+0305. We simultaneously estimate the effective source velocity, the average stellar mass, the stellar mass function, and the size and structure of the quasar accretion disk. The light curves imply an effective source plane velocity of 10200 km/s <∼...
متن کاملInterpretation of the OGLE Q2237+0305 microlensing light-curve
The four bright images of the gravitationally lensed quasar Q2237+0305 are being monitored from the ground (eg. OGLE collaboration, Apache Point Observatory) in the hope of observing a high magnification event (HME). Over the past three seasons (1997-1999) the OGLE collaboration has produced microlensing light-curves with unprecedented coverage. These demonstrate smooth, independent (therefore ...
